Empowering Young Minds for a Brighter Tomorrow

Welcome to the Inaugural Issue of The Broadcast

"We are a community that values education, leadership, and the shared success of our students, and we are incredibly proud to help share these stories with you.

Dear SCHS Community,

It is with great pride and excitement that I welcome you to the inaugural issue of The Broadcast, Salem Community High School’s official quarterly magazine. A simple title, yet rich with our school history as a tribute to the former school newspaper, The Broadcaster. While this publication is a different format and reaches a different audience, we honor our past and look forward to continuing the storied history of SCHS. We present The Broadcast.

In this first issue, we’re thrilled to spotlight a wide range of stories that reflect the strength, talent, and community spirit of Salem Community High School. We celebrate the remarkable success of our State Champion Bowling Team, a group of student-athletes whose dedication and teamwork have made us all proud. We also provide insight into our FFA and Ag programming, where students are preparing for the future with hands-on learning and leadership opportunities.

Additionally, you’ll discover the career readiness pathways we offer, including programs in auto mechanics, nursing, and more—each designed to equip students with the skills they need to succeed in today’s competitive workforce. Another exciting feature highlights a leadership initiative that creates a literary bridge between our student-athletes and our community’s youngest learners, demonstrating the power of mentorship and literacy.

Among other stories, we share a glimpse of the SCHS FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes), an organization that provides support and fellowship for students across all activities, and we explore the resources and support available through our Media Center, where students can access books, tools and guidance to enrich their learning experience.

These stories—and many others—represent the heart and soul of Salem Community High School. We are a community that values education, leadership, and the shared success of our students, and we are incredibly proud to help share these stories with you. As we grow and move forward, we will continue to highlight the remarkable achievements and opportunities that make SCHS a place where every student can thrive.

Thank you for your ongoing support of Salem Community High School, and we look forward to sharing many more stories of our strengths and achievements in the issues to come.

Sincerely,

Dr. Brad Detering
Superintendent, Salem Community High School District
